The Shadow Naval Officer Spouses Club provides social activities, as well as unity, and is seen as a support system to VQ-4 officers' spouses and fiancées. It is said that being a Navy spouse is the toughest job in the Navy. Deployments, watches, and long hours are part of Navy life. Many Shadow spouses are relieved to know an extra source of support is available through clubs like the VQ-4 NOSC. The Shadow NOSC cares about the health and welfare of each spouse, and believes every spouse is important.

You will find VQ-4 as a whole provides for its "Shadow Families", and to that end, the NOSC sponsors family events throughout the year.

Elections for the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer are held annually in April, with the results announced at the May meeting. The Board members hold their positions for one year and take office in June. Nominees for President and Vice President must be members for at least six months prior to elections.

Currently, the board members are: President: Amy Furman; Vice President: Tiffany Johnson, Treasurer: Rachel O'Brian; and Secretary: Kelly Genualdi.

The Shadow Navy Officer's Spouses Club (NOSC) follows an Everyone Is A Member policy. By the mere fact that our spouses are part of VQ-4, they are part of VQ-4s NOSC. We want to ensure that every spouse in VQ-4 knows, without a shadow of doubt, that they are important and that we personally care about each and every one of them.

Basically, by being a member of VQ-4s NOSC, an individual receives a Welcome Aboard gift, the monthly newsletter, card or meal in time of need and phone calls passing along pertinent information.

If the individual wishes to contribute an annual amount of $12.00 (due each July 4th) to offset costs, they also receive flowers and a card when hospitalized, baby gift upon the birth of a new baby, navy and gold Shadow NOSC frame as a farewell gift and the opportunity to hold board or committee chairman positions.
